Most rental units in New Brunswick are regulated by the City’s Rent Control Ordinance.

Rental increases are restricted to the annual rental increase allowed by ordinance unless:

  • The unit was approved for a vacancy decontrol
  • The unit is classified as exempt by the rent control ordinance

ALL REGULATED UNITS MUST REGISTER BY APRIL 1  EVERY YEAR!

2014 Allowable Annual Increase:       2.5%

2013 Allowable Annual Increase:       2.5%

Registration Fee:                                       $25 per unit

Late Fee if filed after April 30:              Additional $5 per unit ($30 per unit total)

Unregistered units are subject to receiving summonses and fines.
