Volunteers Sought to Assist with City’s Code Blue Program

The City of New Brunswick seeks volunteers to assist with its Code Blue program to provide warm and dry shelter to those without during the cold snap.

Code Blue goes into effect when temperatures dip below 20 degrees overnight and/or there is an accumulation of at least six inches of snow on the ground. Warming centers are opened to provide a warm and dry place for residents without adequate shelter.

Volunteers are needed to assist City staff in running Code Blue sites during overnight hours. Volunteer duties include greeting guests as they arrive at shelter sites and assisting supervisory staff with on-site tasks.

Two shifts are available: 7 p.m. – 1 a.m. and 1 a.m. – 7 a.m.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age to assist with Code Blue.
