Soap Box Derby to Return to New Brunswick June 8!

The annual New Jersey Soap Box Derby and Classic Car show is almost here!

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 8 at Johnson & Johnson Headquarters on George Street, soap box racers from all over New Jersey will come to New Brunswick for a friendly competition, with the top racers qualifying to progress to the All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron, Ohio.

Children between the ages of 7 to 17 will race in different divisions to see who has the speediest car.

Aside from the qualifying races, an adult racing division will be held and a special race category has been newly added for special needs children.

The “Super Kids Racing” category uses two-seat cars equipped with two steering wheels and a shared brake for two racers to ride together. Past derby champions will ride along with each participant.

The Super Kids Racing category is free and open to all children with special needs throughout New Jersey. They must be 120 pounds or less to participate. Registration is requested.

Race admission for spectators and parking are free.
