NTB- Senior Center Exterior Improv.


Sealed proposals will be received by the Purchasing Board of the City of New Brunswick, NJ at City Hall, 78 Bayard Street, New Brunswick, NJ. The bids will be publicly opened and read in the Council Chambers on Wednesday, May 30th, 2018 at 10:00am, prevailing time for the New Brunswick Senior Center Exterior Improvements, Specification No. 909-17, for the City of New Brunswick.

The contract shall include the construction of concrete sidewalk, drainage improvements, a synthetic turf bocce court, colored concrete shuffleboard courts, benches and seating areas, site lighting, exercise equipment, and rubberized safety surfacing. The project will also include alternate items such as raised wheelchair accessible planters, shade structures, shade tree and landscape improvements, game tables, trash receptacles, bike racks, and picnic tables. The project includes the restoration of all disturbed sidewalk, curb and lawn area in the project area in accordance with the contract plans and specifications.

The work will be in accordance with the specifications prepared by SUBURBAN CONSULTING ENGINEERS, INC. and adopted by the City Council of the City of New Brunswick, NJ. Copies of the Contract Documents may be obtained between the hours of 9:00 A.M and 4:00 P.M. daily except Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays and are now on file in the City Engineer’s Office, 25 Kirkpatrick Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901 where they may be seen or procured by bidders for a non-refundable fee of $35.00.   Payment for Contract Documents shall be by cash, money order, certified check and shall be made payable to City of New Brunswick. Contract documents cannot be purchased through the mail. City of New Brunswick will not be held responsible for contract documents purchased via courier service. The Contract will allow 75 calendar days for completion of the work from the notice to proceed.

Proposals shall be made on the forms provided and made part of the Contract Documents, which shall be submitted intact. Each bidder is required to bid on only a fixed price, which will be maintained throughout the contract.

Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified check, cashier’s check or bid bond payable to the City Treasurer of the City of New Brunswick, as a guarantee that if the contract is awarded to him he will enter into a contract therefore. The amount so deposited shall be ten percent (10%) of the bid, but in no case in excess of $20,000.00.

N.J.S.A. 40A11-14, provides that the Governing Body of any municipality may provide the form and manner of approval of all guarantee, indemnity, fidelity or other bonds required.

Bidders are required to comply with the requirements of the New Jersey State Statutes:

P.L.1963 Chapter 150 (Prevailing Wage), P.L.1975 Chapter 127, N.J.A.C. 17:27, N.J.S.A. 10:5-31 et seq., P.L. 1977 Chapter 33 and with P.L. 1999 Chapter 238. In addition, all bidders must comply with the Public Works Contractor Registration Act – N.J.S.A. 34:11-56.48 et seq., when applicable and comply with the Contractor Responsibility Certification and respond to the Disclosure of Investment Activities in Iran form. According to 40A:11-23, the City is prohibited from receiving bids on Mondays or any day directly following a State or Federal Holiday.
