Update Regarding Water Main Break on Livingston Avenue

UPDATE: Livingston Avenue has been reopened between Comstock Street and Delavan Street with lane reductions in both directions.

Water service has been restored in the area of today’s water main break on Livingston Avenue.

Some water discoloration may occur this afternoon as our Water Utility staff performs hydrant flushing as part of the repair and maintenance process. Discoloration occurs as a result of dislodged iron deposits in water mains.

Water remains safe for use, but the New Brunswick Water Utility advises against running hot water or doing laundry while discoloration is present, as iron deposits may accumulate in hot water heaters and possibly stain laundry.
