National Night Out is an annual observance in which multiple neighborhoods around town organize block parties, picnics and barbecues in the early evening, inviting residents and police to gather in a friendly setting and join together in a unified stance against crime in the community.

This event helps to build community and trust between residents and police by bringing them together in a casual setting for a conversation at a picnic table or on a porch.

National Night Out celebrations will take place at the following locations:

  • St. Mary’s Apartments, Remsen Avenue
  • 116 Livingston Avenue Senior Building
  • Hope Manor/Riverside Drive
  • 33 Commercial Avenue Apartments

On Tuesday, Aug. 5, New Brunswick residents, police officers and elected officials will meet and mingle in gatherings around town as part of the City’s annual National Night Out celebration.

National Night Out is a community event that aims to strengthen ties between residents and the local police department in a community setting, as well as take a united stance against crime. Neighborhoods around New Brunswick host a number of gatherings, block parties and barbecues for the event, which usually begins around 5 p.m.
