The City of New Brunswick has contacted the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Green Acres Program, proposing to divert 0.105 acres (4,581 square feet) of the Raritan River Conservation Area located between Route 1 and the New Jersey Turnpike on Block 703.03, Lot 1.03 in the City of New Brunswick in connection with the replacement, upgrading and operation of the overhead electric transmission line for Public Service Electric and Gas Company’s (PSE&G’s) Metuchen-Trenton-Burlington project, and would serve to strengthen the electric power reliability in the region.
The diversion would be for an easement to PSE&G to allow for proper clearance around the transmission line. The easement would be in addition to the existing PSE&G right of way located in the area of Tunison Road north of North Pennington Road.
Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 7:36-26.8(a), a scoping hearing to obtain public comment on this request will be held at New Brunswick City Hall located at 78 Bayard Street, New Brunswick, New Jersey 08901 on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.
All interested parties are invited to attend and participate in the scoping hearing. In addition to oral comments presented during the hearing, written comments on the diversion request may be directed to Mr. Russell Marchetta, Deputy Business Administrator at (732) 246-5357 and New Brunswick City Hall, 78 Bayard Street, New Brunswick, New Jersey 08901.
