Registration is now open for Project Move Out, a program for off-campus Rutgers University students to utilize to properly disposal of bulk waste items as they clean out their homes at the end of the semester.
To make sure that bulk waste is disposed of in a responsible manner that also keeps our City streets neat and clean, off-campus students are advised to take advantage of the Project Move-Out program. Students who register for this free program may leave large items curbside at their homes to be picked up by sanitation workers on designated dates.
What kind of items are picked up during Project Move Out?
- Appliances (refrigerators, window air conditioning units, microwaves)
- Electronics (televisions, video game consoles, cell phones, computers, monitors, printers)
- Furniture (mattresses, couches, chairs, tables, book cases, desks, rugs)
All students who wish to participate in this program must register by noon on Tuesday, May 22.

Bulk pickup dates are scheduled for Wednesday, May 23 through Friday, May 25. Registered students are assigned a collection date based on their address. To view the collection schedule, please click the registration link above.
Bulk waste items may not be placed curbside earlier than 5 p.m. the night before the scheduled collection date.
A drop-off site will also be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 23rd through Monday, May 28th in parking lot 30, located behind the Rutgers College Avenue gym.
Students and residents with a valid form of identification to show that they live in New Brunswick can also drop bulk waste items off from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26 at the New Brunswick DPW, 400 Jersey Avenue.
