Women Aware, the designated domestic violence agency in Middlesex County will hold its annual candlelight vigil from 6:30 -7:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 11 in Monument Square Park to commemorate the month of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The goal of the vigil is to educate and raise awareness about domestic violence and the impact it has on our community as well as honor and celebrate survivors of domestic violence.
Event speakers will include Mayor Jim Cahill; Tammy Snyder Murphy, a longtime advocate for domestic violence awareness and prevention and wife of gubernatorial candidate Phil Murphy; Women Aware Executive Director Phyllis Adams; Maliha Janjua, Director of Client Services for Women Aware; and Maria Betanzanos, Assistant Executive Director for Women Aware.
Cyndi Stouffer, Senior Pastor for United Methodist Church New Brunswick will offer an invocation and RU Shockwave A Cappella will perform a musical number.
The event is free and open to the public.
