On Friday, January 19, 2018 at approximately 9:20 a.m., New Brunswick police officers responded to the New Brunswick High School on the possible threat of a gun brought into the school.
Upon the officers’ arrival, they put the school into a lockdown procedure and began their investigation. At approximately 11:35 a.m., the officers concluded that the threat was false, and no gun was brought into the school or onto the school’s property.
The lockdown was lifted and the school returned to normal operating procedures at that time.
During the investigation a student of the school, believed to be responsible for the threat, was taken into custody and charged with Terroristic Threats and Creating False Public Alarm.
The suspect was identified as a 16-year-old male juvenile residing in New Brunswick.
