Hydrant flushing will take place this coming week and throughout the month of October in various neighborhoods around New Brunswick as part of the New Brunswick Water Utility’s regular maintenance of the City’s water mains.
Flushing will begin on Monday, September 26 on Livingston Avenue and Joyce Kilmer Avenue between the hours of 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.
Flushing will take place at various dates and times throughout the process, which is projected to end at the close of October.
Water discoloration may occur as a result of the flushing. Discolored water remains safe for use, but residents may wish to run their taps to alleviate the discoloration. It is not advisable for residents to wash laundry while discoloration is present.
Questions regarding the flushing may be directed to New Brunswick Water Utility Director Mark Lavenberg at (732) 745-5052.
