The New Brunswick Police Department expanded its ranks with four new officers following a swearing-in ceremony Friday afternoon at City Hall.

Officers Sean P. Paganelli, Richard J. Reed, III, Nicholas A. Grammar and Anthony J. Jones, Jr. recently completed 21 weeks of training at the Cape May County Police Academy.

These four new officers mark a total of 27 hires to the New Brunswick Police Department since 2013, a number indicative of the department’s dedication to hiring to better expand its abilities to serve the community.

Police Director Anthony Caputo anticipates sending five more recruits to the academy by the end of the month to begin working with the department later this year.

“These new hires allow us to continue to expand our existing units and best respond to the needs of our community,” Director Caputo said.

The new officers will begin their assignments immediately with the department.
