Downtown New Brunswick will again play host to a series of free, family-friendly events during the month of December.
This year’s Tree Lighting is extra special, as it’s the 25th occasion of this New Brunswick tradition. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 1 in Monument Square and will include live performances, a craft market, the annual hot-pot cook off and a visit from Santa. The tree will be lit up at 7 p.m.!
New Brunswick families are invited to come get a free photo with Santa at the United Methodist Church of New Brunswick, 323 George Street, between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, September 9.
Free horse drawn carriage rides will take place between the hours of 4-7 p.m. on Friday, December 15, Saturday, December 16 and Sunday, December 17. Carriages will pick up riders in front of the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick on Neilson Street.
On New Year’s Eve, The Restaurant Guys will host their annual New Year’s Eve fireworks display from the roof of the Heldrich Hotel. Fireworks will be set off at the stroke of midnight to ring in the new year. Attendees are encouraged to come to Monument Square starting at 11:30 p.m. to listen to holiday music and get a spot for the display.
Additionally, New Brunswick City Center promotes food and clothing drives to benefit both local and disaster-stricken areas and encourages community members to look to the following agencies to make donations:
