Free Backpacks Available on August 26, Courtesy of the NBPD

The New Brunswick Police Department invites families to join them at Walgreens on Saturday, August 26 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. for a free backpack giveaway for back to school.

Walgreens is located at the corner of Jersey Avenue and Handy Street. The department will have the backpacks available for pick up in the parking lot.

The department funded the purchase of the backpacks using money provided by the Detective Matthew L. Tarentino Community Policing Grant Program, named after late Summit Police Department Detective Matthew Tarentino, who was known for his extensive community outreach efforts in the community. Det. Tarentino passed away May 30, 2017 in a motor vehicle accident.

New Brunswick families are invited to come by, meet our officers and grab a new bag for the new school year. All are welcome at this community event.
