An endless supply of knowledge, information and connection to the world around us can be unlocked with a simple community resource – a library card!
Do you have yours?
Library cards are available to anyone who lives, works, owns property or attends school in the City of New Brunswick. They are FREE, available to adults and children of all ages.
The New Brunswick Free Public Library contains approximately 80,000 books in dozens of topics and a team of librarians ready to help all patrons find what they are looking for. Selections for adults, children and teens are available, as well as audio books, magazines, DVDs and computer access.
To obtain a library card, residents must provide two proofs of identification, with at least one showing a current address: These can be:
- A county ID
- A bank statement or check
- A lease
- A utility bill
- A NJ driver’s license
The library also has many programs for adults and children, including story time for kids, movie and game nights, a Makerspace, ESL conversation groups, computer tutoring and a lot more. A calendar of library programs is available here.
