Fire Department Goes Door-to-Door for Red Cross Home Safety Campaign

Members of the New Brunswick Fire Department and volunteers with the American Red Cross Northern New Jersey Region installed 139 smoke detectors in New Brunswick homes on April 23 during the Home Fire Preparedness Campaign.

The City of New Brunswick Fire Department and volunteers with the American Red Cross North Jersey Region installed 169 new smoke detectors in homes throughout the neighborhoods between Seaman Street and Comstock Street on April 23.

The fire department partnered with the American Red Cross for its Home Fire Preparedness Campaign. Through this volunteer effort, firefighters and volunteers have gone door-to-door on multiple Saturdays in targeted neighborhoods, speaking to residents about fire safety and checking and replacing smoke detectors.

Saturday’s outreach event targeted the Seaman Street and Comstock Street area, but any City resident who wishes to have a new detector installed may call the department directly at (732) 745-5164 to schedule an appointment with our firefighters to visit their home.
