Keep Hub City Clean – Become a Block Captain!

Do you have an interest in keeping New Brunswick clean and green? Become a Block Captain!

The next Clean City Block Captain meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19 at City Hall, 78 Bayard St. It will be hosted by the New Brunswick Environmental Commission.

Overseen by the City’s Clean Communities program, Block Captains are volunteers who educate their neighbors about the proper disposal of trash and recycling in New Brunswick. They also organize community cleanups in their neighborhoods.

Since the beginning of the year, Block Captains have coordinated 19 cleanups, resulting in the collection of 1,275 pounds of trash and 330 pounds of recycling.

This meeting will be a great opportunity for Block Captains to meet other Block Captains and to learn from each others’ experiences.  Block Captains will provide insight into how the program is working in their neighborhoods and participate in a workshop about improving participation.

This meeting is open to the public. Anyone who is interested in learning more about the Block Captains program is welcome to join.

The New Brunswick Environmental Commission will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m., immediately following the Block Captains meeting.
