The New Jersey Section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA), recently honored Frank Marascia, Director of the New Brunswick Water Utility with the Harold V. Florence, Jr., Meritorious Operator Award.
According to the AWWA, this annual award is given to “an operator who has brought a higher degree of excellence, learning, initiative and resourcefulness to bear in the operations of a public water supply system.”
“This award confirms what we in the City of New Brunswick already knew, that Frank Marascia is a consummate professional and an outstanding water utility expert, who has brought a new level of expertise to our water system,” said Mayor James M. Cahill.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to receive this award, named for a man who set the standard in the operation of water utility systems in New Jersey,” said Mr. Marascia. I will continue to work to improve the City’s water utility serving the citizens of New Brunswick,” Marascia added.
Mr. Marascia joined the New Brunswick Water Utility as Director in October 2012, two weeks before Super Storm Sandy hit the City. Mr. Marascia was instrumental in keeping New Brunswick’s water supply safe and available to all residents of the City after the storm.
The New Jersey Section of the American Water Works Association has more than 1750 members united in a mission to provide residents of New Jersey with safe drinking water. Members include most of New Jersey’s public and investor-owned water utilities along with engineering and environmental professionals and allied industry businesses.
