Last October, Mayor Cahill joined Women Aware Executive Director Phyllis Adams and Board President Joe Camarota to cut the ribbon on Women Aware’s new supportive needs housing for survivors of domestic violence.
This 3-unit project, partially funded with HOME funds from New Brunswick City Government, is the first permanent housing in the area for domestic violence survivors. It provides housing for 3 families to allow them to transition out of shelter housing. This is the first permanent supportive housing built for survivors of domestic violence in New Jersey and the second in the country!
Here we are NOW:
Check out “Abby’s” story of her move-in last weekend. Thanks to Women Aware, Inc. after years of abuse, she and her children finally have a safe place to call home!
