A CODE BLUE has been called for in New Brunswick for Wednesday, March 5, 2014.
Residents of New Brunswick who need shelter during a Code Blue can go to the Elijah’s Promise Soup kitchen, located at 18 Neilson St. between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. If needed, transportation will be provided by local emergency responders. The Homeless Hotline will serve as a communication and assistance hub during Code Blue. The phone number for the hotline is 2-1-1 or 877-652-1148.
In addition to the Homeless Hotline notification, Code Blue alerts will be sent to City Hall who will alert emergency responders, and area social and health service providers. Outreach teams will be mobilized to notify the homeless and insure no one remains outside during dangerous weather.
If anyone sees a person on the streets who needs help, they are advised to call the Homeless Hotline.
For those seeking shelter, with beds please go to the Ozanam Shelter at 20 Abeel Street for assistance.
