POLICE UNITY TOURS ROLLS THROUGH NEW BRUNSWICK

Five members of the New Brunswick Police Department are taking part in the National Police Unity Tour, a bicycle tour from New Jersey to Washington, DC.

The tour was organized in 1997, with the hope of bringing public awareness of Police Officers who have died in the line of duty and to honor their sacrifices.  Additionally, the tour raises funds for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial and Museum in Washington, DC.

This year the four-day fund-raising tour started in East Hanover, NJ and will end at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC.  More than 1,600 law enforcement members from across the country are taking part in the trip.

The tour came through New Brunswick on Route 1, on the morning of Friday, May 10, with the New Brunswick Police Department providing an escort.
