NEW BRUNSWICK POLICE DEPARTMENT CONDUCTING PEDESTRIAN SAFETY EDUCATION PROGRAM

New Brunswick, NJ, May 6, 2013 – The New Brunswick Police Department has initiated a Pedestrian Safety Education Program to make both pedestrians and motorists aware of safety issues regarding City streets.

As part of the program, the Police Department will issue warnings to pedestrians and motorists who illegally use crosswalks and roadways.  The warning will not include any monetary fines.

“This program is designed to educate pedestrians and motorists of their responsibilities when using City streets.  With so many people not only living in New Brunswick, but also working here and attending school in the City, it is imperative that they know the rules of the road to make it a safe environment for all of our residents and visitors,” said New Brunswick Police Director Anthony Caputo.

The Pedestrian Safety Education Program will run throughout the Spring and begin again when the students return in the Fall.
