PROJECT MOVE OUT in Second Year is designed to Pick Up Bulk Items

As Students Leave Off-Campus Housing

New Brunswick, NJ, May 8, 2013 – The City of New Brunswick and Rutgers University are once again working together on a program to provide students an easier and more efficient method to dispose of their bulk trash items when moving out of off-campus housing. PROJECT MOVE OUT offers students the ability to register with the University to have their bulk items picked up on a specific day. Additionally, there will be drop-off sites in the City where students can take their bulk items.

Rutgers students can have bulk trash items picked up at their off-campus housing location by registering online until May 22 (12:00 Noon) at Rutgers will provide free curbside pickup for these students on Thursday and Friday, May 23, & 24, and Tuesday and Wednesday May 28 & 29.

Additionally, Rutgers University students will have a drop-off site for bulk trash items to be recycled. The location will be in the parking lot behind the College Avenue Gym on the College Avenue Campus. This location will be open May 23, 24, 28 and 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Starting on Saturday, May 18, the New Brunswick Department of Public Works (DPW) at 400 Jersey Avenue will be open for the drop-off of bulk trash items from students who live in the City and present a valid form of identification to show that they live in the City. Items that can be dropped off include couches, desks, chairs, appliances etc. The Jersey Avenue location will be open to receive items on the following Saturdays, May 18 and June 1 and 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
