Police Department Accepting Applications for Auxiliary Police

The New Brunswick Police Department is accepting applications for the department’s Auxiliary Police Program.  The Auxiliary Police is a volunteer program where individuals utilize their training to give back to their neighborhoods and assist the police department during community oriented events.  The next Auxiliary Police academy will start in the spring of 2013 and lasts for thirteen (13) weeks.  Individuals interested in applying for the program are required to be:

1.  Citizen of the United States and the State of New Jersey;

2.  At least 18 years of age;

3.  Able to read, write and speak the English language;

4.  Must accurately complete the application packet;

5.  Must agree to an extensive background investigation;

6.  Good moral character (based upon contemporary standards);

7.  Free of criminal conviction involving moral turpitude;

8.  Physically qualified to perform assigned duties.  Physical disability is not a disqualifier if the person is able to perform assigned duties;

9.  Must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license by date of appointment if vehicle operation is required;

10.  Resident of the City of New Brunswick.
